This is where my family always choose to stay, however I haven’t been back since 2017. All I can say is that I was disappointed by the service and embarrassed at how rundown the place is. Room service was terrible. My room wasn’t serviced until after 2pm each day, cups were wiped out with who knows what dirty rag and still had marks in them. Bathroom basin was never cleaned the whole week I was there, nor the shower. They just made the bed and lightly swept my floor (lightly because there was still sand and hair on the floor in places). They even forgot to give me fresh towels on one occasion. Tea and coffee never replenished, only water was.

The pool was filthy. Hair and bugs floating on the surface, the paint is chipping off as is the top layer of the pool so big chunks are missing. The walls of the pool were turning green and everyone was complaining that the water was like a hot bath. I only saw it get cleaned once which was at the end of my week long stay and I’m not sure that the guy even knew what he was doing.

Seemed like a lot of staff was rostered on every day, but nobody was doing any actual work. Staff just meandered around the motel with a cloth wiping down a random pole or a mop & bucket mopping one tile, lots roaming around on their phones or else converging together behind trees, buildings, doors to chit chat. They didn’t even pretend to look busy.

They have one washing machine and dryer for guests to use. However, be warned it’s 10 tala a token to use the machines for 30mins and 10 tala for a standard size snaplock bag of laundry powder, which is absolutely ridiculous because I had enough powder for two weeks of washing, but I only needed to do one load. What they should do is offer much smaller sized bags for 2 tala.

I’m aware of how much financial support NZ and Australia put into Samoa to support the growth of their tourism and hospitality, so I found the lack of work ethic and hospitality knowledge of staff embarrassing.

Safe to say, this will be the last time I will stay here, as well as my family who used to love coming to this place for years.

Check in was easy. Rooms clean, but dated. Understandable due to COVID and no revenue to pay for upgrades. Restaurant menu is simple. Pool is good.

Life Saver.
Me and my friends traveled to Apia for a short Vacation, unfortunately the Hotel we previously booked with double booked our room.
Luckily Tanoa had a few availabilities, booked with them online and were able to stay there.
One thing that definitely stood out was their customer service. As young samoans, our previous experiences from different resorts/hotels we’ve stayed with during our visit were very disappointing, we were often overlooked and rarely tend to.
However, this has never happened to us during our stay at Tanoa. The waiters/waitresses & staff were very attentive and friendly, especially with their welcoming warm smiles. Receptionist were absolutely professional and kind, they even let us keep our key card as souvenirs.
Definitely Recommend!
Faafetai Tele lava Tanoa for accommodating us!

Food is Amazing, ESPECIALLY the complementary breakfast

Absolutely Loved this place! Stayed here for 7 days and it was perfect. 3 groups of family stayed in other rooms and they enjoyed it too.their breakfast every morning was delicious and their customer service was above and beyond (:

*only small thing I would pick at is the shower area.it could do with some exit mould spray or extra scrubbing to make it abit cleaner but honestly wasnt too bad.just a small thing I noticed.but definitely coming back and highly recommend staying here (:

I do not think it is the hotel fault but there is a no alcohol policy on Sunday.
The restaurant has very limited menu. There was no steak despite the menu (which as stated was limited anyway)
stating otherwise
Green Coconut being sold was a redeeming factor

Excellent customer service. Wanted more authentic Samoan breakfast items so we can enjoy it. Had to go outside to market for those items but all in all the staff was awesome.

Very average hotel for the price we paid. We had a room that overlooked the carpark - it was very dark and dingy. The bedding configuration was strange - a sheet placed over the stained (blood stained) duvet? The pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. The bathroom is scruffy and dated - the shower had a tendancy to flood so you stand in a pool of water. Towels are worn out - wafer thin and hard. The breakfast was canteen style - with food served in troughs - all very unappealing and unattractive. No where to order an omlette - We grabbed a couple of bannas and had breakfast in a nearby cafe. The only positives are the attractive gardens which are well maintained.

It’s the best place to stay if you’re looking for a place to stay in Samoa, the staff is super friendly from the concierge to everywhere you go, the rooms are clean and the housekeeping is done daily, there’s also a gym to keep up your daily healthy living routine. Thank you Tanoa I give you 10/10, and I am one proud Samoan to shout out to the world. Keep up the outstanding service!

Absolutely wonderful in every way. Highly, highly recommended! Great rooms, staff, food variety, several places to sit and drink or eat, or just rest. Nice pool and the gardening is beautiful!

Staff were polite and accommodating, air con wasn’t that strong in rooms accounting for the one less star.

We only went to the restaurant here. It's our first and last visit to their restaurant. The food was just ok but the service was pretty bad. One person in our party was served the wrong dish and then had to wait for them to find/make and bring over the right one, the other didn't get their food until everyone else was finished and they forgot to get him his second drink.

Came to check in & we weren’t greeted at all by any of the staff at reception. (At least 5)
Female at the desk was rude & gave me a paper to sign. I tried to read it & when I saw something was wrong, I tried to explain it to her but she cut me off & told me “just sign”. I didn’t. I continued to explain the error & I didn’t end up signing anything at the end of it.
They finally took us to our room with no swipe. My husband had to go back to the male staff who showed us our room & he explained they are trying to sort it. They came back 10 minutes later to drop it off.
Had my bookings been refundable, I would’ve asked for a refund at check in.
Two stars for the pool & friendly staff at breakfast buffet.
Fridge isn’t always replenished.

A lovely place to stay in Samoa for a very reasonable price. The grounds are gorgeous and well-maintained, as is the pool. Staff are fantastic. Rooms are good overall - very comfortable beds but small issues that are annoying, such as leaky iron and shower that doesn't drain properly due to the tiles sloping the wrong way. Food was disappointing for both breakfast and other meals - nothing wrong with it, per se, just very basic.

We spent 5 days at Tanoa and absolutely loved our stay. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast was so good, it had a range of food and I love that they incorporated Samoan dishes and supported local business like the use of Aopo honey. The room was clean and the house keepers did a good job at servicing the room everyday. The pool was lovely and relaxing after a hot day out and about. From the moment we got there to when we checked out everything was so good. We loved our time here and I look forward to booking with you again.

A mixed bag of positives and negatives. Despite an email before we flew over and a double check at reception on checkin, the bedding was not configured as requested when we got to the room (this was rectified the following day). Music in the bar/restaurant was too loud for dinner service and the staff varied from disinterested to being attentive with mains overpriced (but we did have a food and beverage credit to spend). The tech guys were super quick in helping me work out remote control. There is still a need for maintenance onsite.the screen door of room was off the rail and a cladding panel was banging in the wind but both of these we fixed ourselves. The fan in the bathroom rattled each time you turned the light on. A good idea is for each room checkout process, is somewhere to write these things down for attention. We were in the room next to the stairway which meant we had an awesome big deck. Our room was quiet a in the rear block on the back side overlooking the te nis courts. Breakfast buffet was epic.banana smoothie, pancakes, eggs coked to order.sets you up for the day.
Very convenient and heaps of parking for rental cars.

Come on Tanoa get the food ramped up and it could be perfect. 3 days and still no Maple syrup for Waffles The breakfast is very boring. Gluten free CornflakesThanks to all the staff

The hotel is very nice and neat. Sad to say that me and my family had a bad experience from the start to end, The lady at the receptionist was so rude with really bad attitude. The boys at the front were really helpful and polite the cleaners were really nice and the room service is good. At the end of our stay our car windscreen was cracked so i encourage people to not park under the trees inside tanoa carpark if something happens to your car tanoa reckons it's not part of they premisses due to the bad weather that night will call it a natural disaster no heavy objects around the car that morning so lets just say the visible brunch cracked the windscreen besides all that i really like the hotel rooms very nice and spacious and clean the washing machine is not that great and the dryer is worse, after that experience with some staff and our rental car all the stress and hassle we had to go through i will never go back to this hotel.
